Police are searching for three men who must have thought they’d won the lottery after finding a winning TAB ticket in the CBD on 29 June.
Investigators have been told an unlucky punter lost his winning footy-multi in Bourke Street around 9pm.
He reported the loss and due to the unusual nature of the outlaid bet and the $2500 win police were able to identify where the ticket was cashed.
Police have released images of three men that they believe can assist with their investigation into the cashing of the ticket.
“We wish to speak to anyone who may have knowledge of the ticket or who redeemed it” said Detective Senior Constable Frank Cuce of Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit.
“There are offences of theft by finding or obtaining property by deception that may be applicable in this instance.
“We are keeping an open mind in relation to the investigation and hope that our enquires pay dividends.”
Anyone who can identify the men or with further information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit their website at http://www.crimestoppers.com.au
